Raze was a CCM pop group based in Tulsa, Oklahoma founded by Ja’Marc Davis, a former dancer for CCM star Carman. Other Raze members included Donnie Lewis, J.D. Webb, and Mizzie Logan, though Webb was replaced by Todd Hanebrink in 2000. The group had at least two No. 1 Christian radio singles, but it all came to an abrupt end on March 1, 2001, when Davis was arrested for child molestation. The remainder of Raze only did a few more concerts before calling it quits. Lire plus
One of the purity ministries that BarlowGirl partnered with back in 2008 was Dannah Gresh’s Secret Keeper Girl. The ministry began in 2002, when Gresh published Secret Keeper: The Delicate Power of Modesty, a devotional book about modesty and purity. Secret Keeper Girl later grew into an international phenomenon: the series sold over 1.5 million books, and over 280,000 girls attended live shows.

Upon watching an atheist channel, I heard of the Christian film “Second Glance”, which featured a promotional trailer for the 1998 Christian film “Pamela’s Prayer”. I watched the movie with an open mind because it seemed like it had the kind of doctrine that BarlowGirl taught… well, at least before the three sisters’ pattern of compromise unmasked in recent years. With that in mind, here is my quick review of what this movie has to offer. Lire plus
I just came across this snippet and thought of sharing it on the website.
Fervent Records’ rock trio BarlowGirl and the Air 1 radio network have announced the winner of the contest that gave listeners the chance to win a trip for 4 to Chicago to site see and go Christmas shopping on the famous Michigan Avenue with BarlowGirl.
The winner and family’s trip also included some highlight experiences including visiting the Water Tower Place, seeing the city’s beautiful evening lights from the John Hancock Observatory, enjoying Chicago-style pizza, and sitting front row at BarlowGirl’s Apple Store performance.
The three-piece band played a special acoustic set at the Michigan Avenue Apple Store on Saturday, December 12 to kick off the Christmas season. BarlowGirl will be booking similar shows throughout 2010 allowing the band to share the stories behind their songs as well as engage with the audience through a Question and Answer session.
Of all the activities that BarlowGirl could do, the three sisters opt to partake in shopping for the pagan Christmas holiday! Being an Air 1 contest, it was only available in the United States. International fans need not apply. Adding insult to injury, Lauren Barlow does not care if those who don’t « speak American » wish to have her book Inspired by Tozer translated to their native language. Barlow would rather watch and praise a Lady Gaga concert!
The three Barlow sisters partook in the « Funky Jesus Music » video shooting by tobyMac. They appear during a few moments (0:10, 0:16, 0:42, 0:48, 0:56, 1:11 and 1:43) in order to dance to this song set to a worldly rhythm. Where is the fear of the Lord (Proverbs 1:7) in these mademoiselles, in addition to all others who dance in a freaky manner in this video?
After I published my hour-long « BarlowGirl CCM false prophetesses » video on January 16, 2016, I got a lot of heat for it. One committed fan blasted me via tweets and DM. Another one blocked me without ever providing a valid explanation. Over the year, the ratings bar turned into a grey (YouTube) or red (third-party YT apps) lightsaber, so I’m told. One thing is clear: many people enjoy defending BarlowGirl (BG)… but at what cost?
For over two and a half years, from July 2013 to January 2016, I’ve put up with the Barlows and their mediocre behaviour without making a detailed public video rebuke. I’ve put up with their watered-down doctrine that either diminishes or nullifies the importance of Jesus in their lives. I’ve put up with the false accusations throughout that time: I supposedly annoyed them to no end, started filthy conversations (Barlows, shall we take a look at your playlists?), had malicious intentions behind my ministry work and so much more. I’ve put up with BarlowGirl’s family, fans and friends who repeatedly stuck up for the band, no matter how many times they were made aware of the many shortcomings that BG refused to rectify. One person even went as far as to mock the idea that it was inappropriate to enjoy a crooner’s songs about group sex, substance abuse and blasphemy. The frequent response from such people was to stop judging, to examine my own life, to take it easy when it comes to to the morals that BarlowGirl aggressively displayed throughout its career and so forth. Did you know that a Christian pop group composed of three sisters did exist a few years before BarlowGirl’s eponymous album was released? Yes, it was the group Aurora, who released two albums (the first in 2000 being eponymous and the second in 2001 being titled Bigger than Us) with Red Hill Records until its operations ceased in 2001. It’s the same record label that published the album Katy Hudson, which had less than 200 physical copies published. Therefore, I am led to believe that the Aurora album Aurora is also with rare availability. However, at the thrift store, I found a copy of the latter and I did not miss the opportunity to buy it! A review will soon be published.
Today, I am planning a double digest because I am embracing what it means to be at peace with God. So many people do not have this peace because their sin is burdening them. It’s a sad sight to see because in the end, if they continue on the path they are currently following, they will miss out on eternal heavenly life. Verses like 1 Peter 3:15 completely reassure me that my salvation in Christ is definitively permanent.
Unfortunately, I believe that BarlowGirl does not have reassurance of their salvation, despite Alyssa Barlow claiming « When I go to heaven… » during a late 2009 concert. In February 2014, she was rocking out to « Locked Out of Heaven » by the perverted Bruno « Mars ». What kind of message does that send about how seriously one takes salvation in Christ? A very worrisome message, there’s no doubt about it. Lire plus
During the first decade of the new millennium, there was a band of three sisters that purportedly led a purity movement for youth in North America and beyond, more specifically for the teenagers and young adults. The sisters are BarlowGirl (BG), of course, and the purity organizations they have partnered with include Rock For Life (RFL) and True Love Waits (TLW). BG has been sponsored by TLW and that charity’s partner, LifeWay Christian Resources, to promote a « Takes The Town » tour. The sister band would perform rock concerts with songs they treated as purity anthems, like « Average Girl » in tour and « The Guy Song » post-tour, accompanied with sermonettes on how the trio and fans should wear purity rings and save sex for marriage.
Unfortunately, the TWL campaign has proven to have little effect for those who have taken it, at least prior to BG’s involvement. In 1999, a Yale and Columbia study found that 88% of teens who took the pledge broke it by having pre-marital sex prior to age 24. In 2003, another study reported a lower number of 82%, obtained by adding 60% engaging in vaginal sex with another 22% engaging in oral sex. A secular movie mocks purity when a girl in an outtake proclaims: « B***jobs don’t count! » Many Disney stars such as the Jonas Brothers, Miley Cyrus, Britney Spears, Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez have also likewise worn purity rings. Of these seven people, though, only Kevin Jonas honoured his pledge by marrying Danielle Deleasa in 2009. Lire plus
